One man in custody, another at large following robberies

An 18-year-old Sudbury male is facing charges after police investigated a complaint of two suspects rifling through vehicles on the morning of June 21.

An 18-year-old Sudbury male is facing charges after police investigated a complaint of two suspects rifling through vehicles on the morning of June 21.

Upon arrival in the Minnow Lake area, officers of the Greater Sudbury Police Service saw the two suspects flee into a bush area. Following a foot pursuit, one of the suspects was apprehended.

The suspect actively resisted police and stolen property was recovered in his bag. The suspect's bag  also contained approximately 188 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. The marijuana has a street value of  approximately $3,500.

The 18-year-old is in custody awaiting an appearance in bail court. He is facing charges of theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000, resist arrest, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking

Investigators are trying to identify the second suspect and it is anticipated that a warrant will be requested for his arrest.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is reminding the public to ensure vehicles are locked at all times to eliminate the motivation for crimes of opportunity.
