The Sudbury and Espanola OPP departments will be stepping up their highway traffic enforcement over the Easter long weekend to prevent deaths.
"As the presence of highly visible, engaged traffic officers has proven to be one of the most effective methods of mitigating high-risk driving behaviour, officers will continue to target the top three casual factors in fatal collisions such as impaired driving, aggressive driving and occupant restraint."
During the 2008 Easter long weekend, 142 charges were laid in the Sudbury and Espanola areas, including 115 speeding charges.
Part of the highway patrols will be aircraft watching for speeders from above.
