Overweight trucks travelling Sudbury roads: police

Greater Sudbury Police are reminding truck drivers of half-load restrictions currently in effect on area roads after recent complaints from the public about overweight trucks.

Half-load season started March 18, and the end dates for half-load season area s follows:

Asphalt roads - May 13
Surface treated roads - May 20
Gravel roads - June 3
Gravel roads in Clealand Township (Wanup area) - June 30

Greater Sudbury Police, along with the Ministry of Transportation, conduced patrols and enforcement throughout the city, and laid several charges, including two driver qualification offences, two load security charges, one registration charge, eight weight-related charges, one trip inspection charge, one commercial vehicle owner registration charge and five disobeying a sign charges.
