Police find large stash of marijuana

Five people have been charged with drug offenses as a result of a search warrant carried out in two residences in St. Charles, Ontario Feb. 6.

Officers discovered a marijuana grow operation in the basement of one of the homes. Officers seized 89.2 pounds of dried cannabis marijuana, 28 cannabis marijuana plants, as well as cannabis marijuana resin, $1,300 in cash and other drug-related paraphernalia.

The potential street value of the drugs is $310,000.

A 46-year-old man, a 45-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, all of St. Charles, were charged with production of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

A 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both of St. Charles, were charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

All of the suspects are due to appear in court April 29.
