An arrest came fairly quickly after police arrived on the scene in Capreol on Tuesday, following a call about a someone with a gun on Queen Street in the community.
The call to police came in around 4 p.m. on Jan, 17. According to police, a man attempted to enter a person’s residence without permission, flashing an undisclosed type of firearm in the process.
It seems the 24-year-old suspect was successful in getting into the house. Once Greater Sudbury Police arrived on the scene, they set up a containment perimeter around the residence and waited the man out.
They didn’t have to wait long. At 5:40 p.m., he was taken into custody without further incident.
Police say the suspect and victim are known to each other.
The 24-year-old man faces several charges, including:
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order x3
- Assault with a Weapon
- Use of a Firearm While Attempting to Commit an Offence
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x3
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance
The man was to appear in bail court this morning to answer to these charges.
