After weeks of preparation, the Graffiti Eradication Day Fall '06 has been re-scheduled for Oct. 16.

Because the weather forecast for Oct. 11 calls for a 90 percent chance of rain, organizers again decided to postpone the event. Graffiti Eradication Day was originally sceduled for Oct. 4 but was pushed back to Oct. 11 because of the weather.

More than 500 students from 30 schools were to take part in the event, which would see the youngsters scrub graffiti from buildings near their school with paint and special cleaning solutions. Police officers would accompany each school group.

People interested in having graffiti removed during the student blitz are asked to phone the police crime prevention unit at 675-9171, ext. 2103. The operator will pass on the request to the principal of a nearby participating school.

Graffiti Eradication Day Fall '06 is a joint program organized by Greater Sudbury Police Services, Downtown Sudbury, the City of Greater Sudbury, the Rainbow District School Board and the Sudbury Catholic District School Board.
