Shoplifting arrest leads to weapons charges

Security officers at a New Sudbury mall were involved in apprehending a suspected shoplifter on Jan. 4 after he was alleged to have loaded up a cart with merchandise valued at over $900 and left the store without offering to pay.

Security officers at a New Sudbury mall were involved in apprehending a suspected shoplifter on Jan. 4 after he was alleged to have loaded up a cart with merchandise valued at over $900 and left the store without offering to pay. 

Police arrived on scene, took custody of the accused and located a canister of pepper spray during the search.

Nimrod Vautour, 32, is charged with theft under, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a weapon while prohibited.

The stolen property was recovered.
