Students from Lansdowne Public School are being bused to Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School.

Students from Sudbury Secondary School are being bused to Lockerby Composite School.

“Rainbow District School Board was monitoring the situation when the Fire Marshal’s Office ordered this evacuation because of the smoke in the area,” said Jean Hanson, Director of Education for Rainbow District School Board, in a release.

“We began transferring students to other schools at approximately 11:15 am.”

Students will be bused home at the end of the school day. There may be some delays.

“Parents/guardians who may wish to pick up their children at either Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School or Lockerby Composite School are welcome to do so,” said Hanson.

“All parents must report to the main office where staff will be pleased to assist them. Student names will be recorded before they are released to parents.”

Hanson thanked students, staff and parents/guardians for their co-operation.

Lansdowne Public School, located at 185 Lansdowne Street, has approximately 300 students.

Sudbury Secondary School, located at 85 Mackenzie Street, has about 850 students.
