A 37-year-old Greater Sudbury man is facing several child pornography related charges after a Sault Ste. Marie police investigation between Oct. 20 and Nov. 20 implicated him.

The Technical Crimes Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie police service identified the man as having accessed, possessed, and making available images of pre-pubescent children via the Internet, which allowed the police to track him to Greater Sudbury.

The Greater Sudbury Cyber Crime unit worked with the Sault Ste. Marie police, and obtained a search warrant, which was executed on Dec. 2.

A laptop and several storage devices were seized in the search, as well as evidence of child pornography in "the form of graphic sexual abuse images of prepubescent children," stated a release from the police.

During the search, police also found three firearms and ammunition that were carelessly stored, of which one of the firearms had not been properly registered.

The accused is scheduled to attend bail court on Dec. 3 to answer to two charges of possession of child pornography, making child pornography available, accessing child pornography, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of an unregistered firearm.
