On May 22, Sudbury OPP Warren Detachment responded to complaints of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) “suspiciously” traveling up and down the back roads in the Municipality of St. Charles.

Police say they were in the process of investigating an abandoned ATV at the scene, when a Side by Side Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) and a second ATV approached the officer’s location. The driver of the ATV surrendered to police, while the riders of the ORV chose to flee to a nearby wooded area.

At that point, the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team were called to the scene.

Further investigation revealed that the two ATVs, the ORV, as well as other items within the vehicles, had been stolen from three nearby residences.

More information will be provided as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact OPP art 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), should they wish to remain anonymous.
