Three charged after high speed chase

Three people were charged after a vehicle was stolen June 22 at approximately 9:40 p.m. Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service were called to assist the OPP with the pursuit in the vicinity of Highway 17, near Coniston.

The stolen vehicle was being driven it in an extremely dangerous manner, and narrowly missed colliding with a stationary police cruiser.

The driver failed to stop and continued to put the lives of the public and passengers at risk by driving at high speeds and into the oncoming lane, stated a news release.

A a result of concern for public safety, the pursuit was called off.

Police located the vehicle in the Second Avenue area. Since the vehicle was abandoned, a canine track was initiated an police were successful in locating three suspects from the stolen vehicle.

A 23-year-old male from Wikwemikong has been charged with possession of stolen property and three counts of breach of probation.

A 20-year-old female from Wikwemikong is facing a charge of possession of stolen property.

A 23-year-old female from Sagamok facing a charge of possession of stolen property.

All three suspects are in custody and will be appearing in bail court on Monday.

The OPP are investigating the pursuit and the three are facing additional charges.
