Three youths arrested after stealing, ditching vehicle

Three youths are facing several charges after being caught driving a stolen vehicle at over 150 km/hr, on Nov. 27 around 2:40 a.m.

Three youths are facing several charges after being caught driving a stolen vehicle at over 150 km/hr, on Nov. 27 around 2:40 a.m.

Greater Sudbury police and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) broke off a chase of a vehicle that  was driving at speeds greater than 150 km/hr, after it was observed the vehicle was being operated in a manner dangerous to others.

The vehicle was found abandoned in a ditch near the Husky gas bar on Hwy 17 E a short time later.

Three youths were located in the bush after a K-9 unit was called in to search.

Investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from New Sudbury earlier in the evening.

A 14, 15, and 17-year-old are facing charges of flight from police, theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Two of the youths are also facing charges of breaching court orders.
