Traffic snarls to avoid

Commercial development in The Kingsway area will require a lane closure over the next week for expansion of a sewer system.

The eastbound curb lane will be closed on The Kingsway between the Barrydowne Road and Second Avenue/Falconbridge Road intersections after 10 pm.

The contractor works at night, leaving all lanes open between the hours of 6:30 am and 10 pm on weekdays and on Saturday. Work will continue throughout the day on Sunday. The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday.

Sewer and road improvements resulting from the commercial development will also require construction on Second Avenue, between the Kingsway and Scarlett Road, from Tuesday, Aug. 17 until Monday, Oct. 18. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open at all times.

Motorists are also advised of detours at the Lasalle Boulevard and MR 35 interchange for paving operations. Detours will be posted in sequential order as work progresses, starting today.

The contractor for the City of Greater Sudbury will pave the interchange ramps in the following order: Lasalle westbound to Azilda/Chelmsford, Lasalle westbound to Sudbury, MR 35 westbound to Lasalle eastbound and MR 35 eastbound to Lasalle eastbound.

During paving of westbound ramps to Azilda/Chelmsford and Sudbury, Lasalle Blvd. westbound lanes will close at Frood Road. Traffic will detour via
Frood Road, Beatty Street and Elm Street.

During paving of eastbound ramps to Lasalle from MR 35, traffic will detour via Elm Street, Beatty Street and Frood Road.
