South Porcupine OPP Crime Unit officers attended a post-mortem examination of the woman who died on a train excursion with a tour group on a Via Rail train early Friday morning.

The post-mortem examination was conducted by a coroner at a Sudbury area hospital early on Saturday and  it has been determined the 43-year-old woman died of natural causes.

She has been identified as Brenda Buckley of South Africa. The OPP has notified next of kin.

Samples taken from six other train passengers experiencing varying degrees of medical difficulty, indicate they had a common flu virus.

The train reached its destination in Toronto after a nine-hour delay in the hamlet of Foleyet, Ontario, located about 100 kilometres west of Timmins.

The rail car in which the woman died remained under OPP control until the cause of death had been determined.

Since foul play and criminal malfeasance have been eliminated as possible causes, the OPP investigation has concluded.
