A 39-year-old man was charged with impaired driving after he was caught by Greater Sudbury Police driving northbound on Notre Dame in the southbound lanes.

A 39-year-old man was charged with impaired driving after he was caught by Greater Sudbury Police driving northbound on Notre Dame in the southbound lanes.

Officers had set up a RIDE checkpoint, where the driver was stopped.

A roadside breath test was administered, which the driver failed. Tests at police headquarters showed the man had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Officer checked 61 vehicles during the RIDE check. Six demands were made for breath tests, but only the one person was charged for impaired.

Seven Highway Traffic Act offences were also issued.
