A 20-year-old man is facing theft and impaired driving charges after he allegedly stole a paving machine on Falconbridge Road Oct. 9 at around 11:40 p.m.

Two people were charged with stunt driving recently after Greater Sudbury Police measured the speed of vehicles in the school zones on Valley View Road.

Greater Sudbury Police ended up chasing two teenage boys in a vehicle and on foot Oct. 8 just after 2 p.m. after they tried to stop a vehicle in New Sudbury for a minor traffic violation.

Motorists who think they're seeing more police on Sudbury's roads this weekend won't be wrong. Operation Impact is in effect from Oct. 9-12, and aims to educate the public about safe driving practices and reduce injuries.

A clerk at Ste. Anne's Confectionary was held at knife-point after three men entered the store and demanded money. The suspects entered the store with the bottom of their faces covered with balaclavas, and demanded money from the clerk.

An accident on Highway 64 in West Nipissing that closed the highway for seven hours has left a 28-year-old Sudbury man with injuries so severe, he had to be air-lifted to hospital in Sudbury.

Highway 64 near Plante road was closed from about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6 to midnight while Noelville OPP responded to and investigated a collision. Motorists were required to use Lafreniere Road as a detour during this period of time.

A 48-year-old Sudbury woman was unharmed after an unknown man surprised her as she left her home in the Claudia Court area, just before 10 a.m. on Oct. 6. The man sprayed the woman with what is believed to be bear repellant, according to police.

An 80-year-old Sudbury woman was left in the dark with no way to call for help after two men broke into her home and cut off her power and phone. Just before midnight on Sept. 27, two men broke into the woman's home on William Avenue.
