Bonhomme and Team Canada face U.S. tonight in gold medal contest

Tessa Bonhomme has turned in a strong performance with Team Canada at the 2007 IIHF Women's World Championship and has a shot to earn a gold medal today.

Sudbury's Bonhomme will play for Team Canada against U.S. in gold medal game

Sudbury's Tessa Bonhomme will get a chance to earn her first ever World Championship gold medal tonight as Team Canada plays the United States in the final of the 2007 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship.

The game will be broadcast live on TSN and starts at 8:30 pm Eastern time.

Bonhomme and Team Canada made it to the final by dumping Finland 5-0  Monday night. Bonhomme scored a goal and added an assist in the romp.

It's the 10th straight time Canada has made the World Championship final.

Canada has won eight world titles.

Canada beat the United States 5-4 in a shootout during the round-robin Hayley Wickenheiser scored the winning goal.

Bonhomme is considered a good bet to make Team Canada when Vancouver hosts the 2010 Winter Olympic Games three years from now.

Bonhomme earned a full scholarship to Ohio State University several years ago and this past season was named as one of the top 10 players in U.S. collegiate women's hockey.
