The Barrie Colts put on a power play clinic
against the visiting Sudbury Wolves during Ontario Hockey
League action last night, chasing starting goaltender Kevin
Beech from the crease on the way to a 9-3 thrashing.
The Colts took advantage of the Wolves'
penalties, scoring five times on 16 power play opportunities in
front of just over 3,000 fans at the Molson Centre in Barrie.
Kevin Baker, Matt Dias and Alex Eaton scored for the Wolves as
they fell to 0-3 to start the season.
Wolves head coach Mike Foligno brought in
backup goalie Chris Abbey to replace his starter after Beech
surrendered four goals on 13 shots in the first period. In his
first three games as the Wolves number one goaltender, Beech
has struggled, allowing 15 goals in seven periods of play, and
registering a 0.828 save percentage.
The Wolves will have an opportunity to redeem
themselves tonight at the Sudbury Community Arena as they take
on rookie sensation John Tavares and the Oshawa Generals (1-1).
Game time is 7:30 pm.
