The Sudbury Northern Junior Wolves hit the
ice tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 28 to take on the Northern
Michigan Black Bears. Game time at the McClelland Arena in
Copper Cliff is 7:30 pm.
Sudbury sits atop the eastern Division
standings with a 3-1-0-0 record. Michigan is currently in third
place in the Western Division with a record of 2-2-0-1.
The game will feature a showdown between two
of the NOJHL's top scorers.
Sudbury has Brian McGarry, an incredibly
offensively talented centre. McGarry is second in league
scoring with five goals and 12 points in just four games.
The Black Bears have forward Jamie Ciotti,
who is sixth in league scoring with five goals and eight points
in five games.
Sudbury Wolves' top prospects, including
Gerome Guidice and Andrew Beuman, will also be playing.
The NOJHL standings are very tight early in
the new season, with all seven teams having recorded at least
two wins.
The Junior Wolves are rebounding from a
disastrous 2004-05 season, when they sported the worst record
in the league.
This year's team is made up largely of
returning players from last year's squad as well as numerous
players from the Rayside-Balfour Sabrecats, who asked for and
received a one-year leave of absence from the league.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for juniors
and seniors, and are available at the door. One lucky program
buyer will win a Wolves' blanket.
