Lady Vees host Ravens in playoffs

The Laurentian Lady Vees soccer team prepares to host their first playoff game in two years on Wednesday October 22 against the Carleton Ravens at 2:15 p.m. It will be the first time the teams have met in the post season, and second time in five days the teams have played in Sudbury.

The Lady Vees finished the season in third place in the OUA East with a 9-5-0 record good enough for a team record 27 points, while Carleton notched a 6-6-2 record and had 20 points.

The Lady Vees are hot of late, as they ride a three game winning streak into the playoffs including a 2-0 victory over the Ravens on Saturday. In the team's other meeting of the year in the nation's capital, the Ravens won 1-0 in a hotly contested battle.

Carleton enters the playoffs losers of three straight and were unable to score a goal this past weekend.

When Laurentian takes to the pitch on Wednesday they will be playing their sixth game in 11 days, but will look to take advantage of the home field and loud crowd to motivate them.

"We have been stellar in finding ways to win the must win games this season," said Lady Vees head coach Rob Gallo, in a release. "If they believe in themselves (the Lady Vees), they will journey on."
