Politi put in a strong effort despite an injury at beginning of season.
Mens' stand-out Giuseppe Politi and womens' stars Erica Duczeminski, Cara Smith, and Melynda Roach, who all hail from Sudbury, have been named as
Ontario University Athletics (OUA) North/South Division All-Stars.

Politi, in his fourth season with the Voyageurs, was ranked seventh in OUA scoring five goals in the seven games he played.

The Voyageurs, who narrowly missed the playoffs this season, were led by the strong play of Politi.

"This is an excellent achievement for Giuseppe, he started off the season injured, missing the first three games, and he worked hard to back into game shape," said Head Coach Carlo Castrechino in a news release. "Giuseppe was instrumental in carrying this team to a near play off berth, which
unfortunately was cut short."

Duczeminski was honoured with First Team All-Star accolades in her rookie campaign. Duczeminski who was a tower of power for the Lady Vees, led the team this season, and elevated her own game to that of a seasoned veteran adding three goals in 10 games.

"Erica has another four seasons for the Vees and will, without a doubt, develop into one of the premiere defenders in the OUA and the country," said Head Coach Rob Gallo in a news release.

This marks the second year Smith has been named to an OUA All-Star team. Last year, Smith made the first team. Due to the injury woes suffered by the Lady Vees all season, Smith was moved from her usual position to outside left, where she added three goals in eight games.

"Cara is a game player, and gives 100 percent both in practice and in the game, she was also a co-captain for this year and was an excellent leader," said Gallo

Defender Roach, in her third year with the Vees, has finally received some recognition for her excellent defensive play. Roach, who is touted as one of the best defenders in the OUA, put together her best season as of yet for the Vees.

"A solid defender, Melynda is finally starting to garner respect for her abilities," said Gallo. "All three of these ladies are members of the Sudbury Canadians USL program, and blossoming into outstanding OUA and CIS players," said Gallo.
