Wolves send IceDogs packing with impressive road win

The Sudbury Wolves proved they had the killer instinct on Sunday. The Wolves dumped the Mississauga IceDogs 6-3 to take game five and win the Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference quarter-final series four-games-to-one.

Justin Donati scored two goals and three points to lead Sudbury to a 6-3 win over Mississauga on Sunday. The win clinched the series for the Wolves in five games.

The Sudbury Wolves proved they had the killer instinct on Sunday. The Wolves dumped the Mississauga IceDogs 6-3 to take game five and win the Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference quarter-final series four-games-to-one.

Justin Donati lead the way with two goals and three points in the clincher.

Matt Dias, Nick Foligno, Devin DiDiomete and Gerome Giudice, with the game winner, also tallied for Sudbury.

Goalie Sebastian Dahm was solid, making 38 saves.

Mississauga got goals from Jean-Michel Rizk, Stefan Legein and Nathan Martine.

IceDogs' goalie Andrew Loverock made 23 saves.

Mississauga's power play was a non factor, going 0-11, while Sudbury popped two goals on nine chances with the extra man.

Foligno and Donati lead Sudbury in scoring with four goals and nine points each in the series.

Defenceman Marc Staal leads the team, and the entire OHL in plus/minus rating with a plus 9.

Big winger Andrew Self scored two game-winning goals in the series - game one and game four.

Foligno scored the winning goal in game three.

Sudbury now moves onto to play the Barrie Colts in the next round.

Over 2,000 seats are now on sale for the Wolves' first two home games of the Eastern Conference semi-final series against the Barrie Colts.  Dates and times will be announced on Tuesday.

The arena ticket office opens at 9 am and will remain open until 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday. Fans can also purchase tickets by calling 671-3000 during business hours or online at: www.greatersudbury.ca .   Tickets can be purchased online 24 hours/day.

Tim Hortons will sponsor the Wolves' first home game of the semi-final series by providing free cheer sticks to all fans. Tim Hortons will also be giving away some great prizes to lucky program and seat buyers.
