For the Sudbury Wolves, 2007 started the same way 2006 ended - with a loss.

The Wolves fell 6-2 to the Owen Sound Attack on home ice Friday (Dec. 29), lost 4-1 on the road to the Brampton Battalion Sunday (Dec. 31) and lost 6-3 in Oshawa to the Generals Monday (Jan. 1).

On Friday, Kevin Beech was pulled in favour of Michael Swick at 11:14 of the second period after allowing six goals on 12 shots. Swick stopped all 15 shots he faced. Trailing 6-0 going into the third period, the Wolves finally got on the scoreboard when Patrick Lusnak scored his tenth goal of the season. Jesse Messier scored his 15th goal of the season at 12:45 of the third.

Swick started the game Dec. 1 in Brampton, stopping 33 of 36 shots in a 4-1 loss. Lusnak scored the only goal for the Wolves, a powerplay marker in the third period. Howie Martin had two goals and an assist for the Battalion.

Wolves head coach and general manager Mike Foligno gave Beech another start in Oshawa Monday but again had to pull the overaged goaltender in favour of Swick at 10:16 of the second period after he allowed four goals on 17 shots. John Tavares had two goals and two assists for the Generals. Devin DiDiomete, who had two goals, and Matt Dias lit the lamp for the Wolves.

Things won't get any easier for the Wolves as they host the Barrie Colts, the top team in the OHL, Friday Jan. 5 at the Sudbury Community Arena. Game time is 7:30 pm.
