Looking for something to do next month? A reminder that YES Theatre's production of the musical “Hairspray” is being presented Aug. 12-27 at Sudbury Theatre Centre.

Based on the 1988 John Waters film, Hairspray follows the lovable optimist Tracy Turnblad (starring Sudbury's April Perrin) as she follows her dream, turning Baltimore upside down as she goes.

This eight-time Tony Award winner, including Best Musical, boasts big hair, bigger fun and some of the most toe-tapping good times around.

Marking the first time that there has been 10 actors of colour represented on a Sudbury stage in a piece of this nature, Hairspray is a story about love and acceptance; one that embraces and celebrates the difference we all share.

YES Theatre is a non-profit organization which looks to demonstrate the exceptional talent found here in Greater  Sudbury. Past productions include “Hair” (2010), “Rent” (2011), “Spring Awakening” (2012), “Jesus Christ Superstar” (2013 & 2014), “In The Heights” (2014), “Les Miserables” (2014 with the SSO), “American Idiot” (2015), “Fiddler on the Roof” (2015) and “The Last Five Years” (2015).

Tickets to Hairspray cost $40 for adults, $35 for seniors and $30 for students. Visit YES Theatre's website to purchase tickets.
