An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at Valley View Public School. There are two cases among students at the school.

A school outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students or staff (or other visitors) in a school where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.

Rainbow District School Board said Nov. 30 the outbreak at Valley View is in the Grade 6 class at the school that had already been dismissed. The isolation period for the class has been extended to Dec. 9.

Valley View remains open for in-person learning.

Public Health Sudbury reports seven active outbreaks of COVID-19 in area JK-12 schools, although the Rainbow board reports on its website the outbreak at Ernie Checkeris Public School has been declared over. 

There is also one active outbreak on a school bus.
