Scholarships handed out to 10 young Franco Ontarians

Ten Francophone students from the Sudbury area were recently awarded with Gaétan Gervais scholarships through the Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario (ACFO).

The ACFO said they were looking for young people who demonstrated Franco Ontarian pride and helped promote the Franco-Ontarian community in the region. 

The ACFO gave each recipient a $100 scholarship, along with a certificate and a Franco Ontarian flag. 

The 10 recipients were:

  • Martine Simon of Collège Boréal
  • Christine Myre of Collège Notre-Dame
  • Geneviève Hamelin of l’École secondaire catholique Champlain
  • Alexandre Prévost of l’École secondaire catholique Franco-Ouest
  • Zachary Clément of l’École secondaire catholique l’Horizon
  • Shae-Lynn Pilon of l’École secondaire de la Rivière-des-Français
  • Nicky Gagnon of l’École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur
  • Rémi Rancourt of l’École secondaire Hanmer
  • Isaac Robitaille of l’École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier
  • Sophia Bagaoui-Fradette from Laurentian University
