Things got emotional during Sudbury.com's third Acts of Kindness. Sudbury Food Bank's executive director Dan Xilon thought he was meeting with Sudbury.com to talk about the Edgar Burton Christmas Food Drive, but he never guessed this would happen!

Long before hip-hop fads like the dab and twerking were even a thing, pow-wow dancers have been rocking the beat for hundreds of years. To commemorate National Aboriginal Day, Sudbury.com made a video explaining the significance of a few types of dance styles. 


3. Sudbury.com security cam captures Elgin crash

Our security cameras captured video of a speeding car slamming full force into a parked car, driving it forward into two other vehicles and snapping a parking meter and light standard. A 36-year-old man was charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm, among other charges, after the four-car chain reaction collision caused serious injuries to two women.


4. Police arrest man on Bruce Ave. in relation to Wahnapitae shooting

Sudbury.com was on the scene as the Greater Sudbury Police tactical unit apprehended one man at a Bruce Avenue home. Two males were arrested for attempted murder after a man was shot and injured in Wahnapitae on Aug. 12.

Lively resident Marsha Steinke and her dog Skipper got up close and personal with an overly curious bobcat. Steinke captured the confrontation on video while visiting friends on Tyson Lake in February.


9. Massive fire at Killarney Mountain Lodge

Facebook user Aaron Scully posted this video of firefighters battling the fire at Killarney Mountain Lodge back in May. Thankfully, no one was injured but one of the buildings burned to the ground causing an estimated $3 million to $4 million in damages at the historic vacation spot.

During the month of December, Sudbury.com recognizes 12 amazing people, groups and organizations with an act of kindness as part of its 12 Days of Kindness initiative. Ryan Benoit was definitely surprised when we ambushed him at his shop, The Positive Inception in the New Sudbury Centre. His positivity makes others smile and we were so thrilled to return the favour!
