Arrest made in connection with beating death

Orillia OPP have made an arrest in connection with the beting death of Sudbury native David Dumencu. He died July 16 after being beaten and left unconscious outside Atherly Arms, an Orillia strip club.

He died July 16 after being beaten and left unconscious outside Atherly Arms, an Orillia strip club.

A 21-year-old Orillia man was arrested on July 23 and charged with manslaughter. He was to appear in bail court in Barrie this morning (Monday).

Dumencu, 42, had been a dentist in Milton, Ont. since his graduation from the University of Western Ontario in 1986.

He lived in the Creighton Mine area until his graduation from St. Charles College.

According to Orillia OPP Sgt. David Lee, seven detectives and one detective inspector were working on the case.
