Assault on Greyhound Bus investigation continues

The Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is continuing the about five kilometres south of White River on Highway 17. Around 4:15 p.m., police were told a passenger had been assaulted by another passenger on board a westbound bus.

Around 4:15 p.m., police were told a passenger had been assaulted by another passenger on board a westbound bus. The suspect got off the bus several kilometres before the scheduled bus stop in White River. The OPP located the suspect and arrested him without incident on the side of Hwy 17 in Hunt Township.

The 20-year-old male victim was taken to the Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa and has been transferred to Sault Ste. Marie for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no other injuries to any of the 13 other passengers on board the bus.

David Wayne Roberts, 28, of Manitouwadge, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of breach of probation. Roberts was in custody pending a bail hearing in Sault Ste. Marie on Monday.

The investigation is continuing.
