Greater Sudbury Police remind citizens that the by-law pertaining to fireworks is very specific about the days during which they are allowed to set off fireworks within the city.

Greater Sudbury Police remind citizens that the by-law pertaining to fireworks is very specific about the days during which they are allowed to set off fireworks within the city.

The discharge of fireworks is permitted on Victoria Day, Canada Day, December 31 and January 1 between dusk and 11 p.m.

Family fireworks displays may only be done by a person who is 18 or older, or if the person discharging the fireworks is under the direct and constant supervision of such a person.

The person must also ensure that all reasonable safety procedures are followed to prevent harm to persons and property.

Public displays may only be held if a permit has been applied for and obtained from the Sudbury Fire Department.
