On the Feb. 28 at approximately 10:10 pm, a member of the Traffic Management Unit was conducting radar on Municipal Road 80 by McCrae Heights when he observed a vehicle traveling Northbound at a high rate of speed. This was verified by radar and the speed was confirmed to be 133Km/h in a posted 60Km/h zone. The accused continued at high rates of speed through two controlled intersections with no regard for public safety. The officer followed the vehicle at a distance without emergency equipment keeping observation on the vehicle.
The accused then lost control resulting in a single motor vehicle collision striking a snow bank at the intersection of Division St. and Municipal Road 80. David Brennan, 28, of Sudbury was arrested and charged with the following offences.
- Drive motor vehicle while performing a stunt – 133 km/h in a posted 60
- Dangerous driving
- Impaired Driving
He subsequently registered a reading of 150mg after providing a breath sample. Mr. Brennan received a seven & 90 day suspension of his licence and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in court on the Apr. 16.
