A former Sudbury doctor now serving a jail sentence after being convicted of molesting female patients is facing new charges.

Dr. Richard Nanka-Bruce was returned to Sudbury from Kingston, where he's serving a jail sentence of two years less a day after being convicted last March of sexually assaulting and indecently assaulting several female patients dating back as far as 25 years ago.

The new charges filed also allege Nanka-Bruce committed indecent sexual acts against former patients dating back several years. Those charges have yet to be proven in court.

When convicted last March, Nanka-Bruce was found guilty of committing sexual acts while performing internal examinations of several female patients.

Most of the complainants allege the incidents took place inside Nanka-Bruce's medical office that he operated for many years in the Onaping Falls area.

No trial date has been set for Nanka-Bruce, 61, to answer to the new charges he's facing.Nanka-Bruce agreed to give up his license to practice medicine in Ontario after being convicted last year.
