During the day on Friday, officers responded to several theft complaints all with a common theme. A shotgun, a chainsaw and a laptop computer were all stolen from motor vehicles.
Valuable property left in plain view of would-be thieves, greatly increases the risk of being victimized. These crimes happen during all hours of the day and daylight hours do not reduce the risk, a police press release stated.
Additionally, where firearms are stolen from motor vehicles, owners fall under scrutiny for proper storage and, in some cases, may face criminal charges.
