Greater Sudbury Police were involved in an investigation where an adult male attended a party on Cabot Street with a young child who was in his care.
The male stayed at the party for a number of hours, however, upon leaving the party he neglected to take the young child with him.
Brian Desjardins has been charged with abandoning a child, and failing to provide necessities of life to child.
While police attempted to arrest Desjardins he assaulted a police officer and resisted arrest. He was subsequently charged with assault police and resist arrest.
The young child is currently in a place of safety.
