Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing on Pine Street

Domestic incident leads to numerous charges for man who was on a recognizance

A 27-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a violent altercation that took place on Pine Street in the city's West End on March 26.

Greater Sudbury Police were called to a domestic disturbance at 573 Pine St. at around 8:25 p.m. on March 26. Neighbours attempted to diffuse the situation after hearing the disturbance.

When the neighbours attempted to get into the house, they were met by a man with a knife who then chased them down the street.

A 22-year-old woman was later found outside of the residence, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Both the woman and 27-year-old man were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The man has now been charged with attempted murder, a dangerous weapon charge, five counts of assault with a weapon and three counts of breach of recognizance.

No additional details regarding this incident will be provided as the matter is before the courts. The names of the individuals involved in this matter will not be released in order to protect the victim.
