An HIV-infected man has been sentenced to 30 months in jail for having unprotected sex with three local women without telling them about his status.

Fidel Mombo MacKay, 41, pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual assault. Court heard the incidents with the women happened between Sept. 1 and Dec. 11, 2005.

One of the women he had sex with has since learned she is HIV positive.

MacKay was arrested in December 2005 at a house party when Sudbury police began asking people's names.

There was a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest after Saskatoon police charged him for having unprotected sex with a partner there.

After his arrest, Sudbury police released his photo to the media, asking anyone who had sexual contact with MacKay to contact them.

The 30-month sentence is on top of several months MacKay has already spent in custody since being arrested.
