Missing angler found drowned

An angler, who was reported missing on May 23, has been discovered by Sudbury Police in Mosquito Lake in Cascaden Township. The male has been identified as David Thaddeus White, age 21, of Levack.

The male has been identified as David Thaddeus White, age 21, of Levack.  He was not wearing a lifejacket and it is believed alcohol was involved.

Officers with the OPP Marine Unit, along with the assistance of the Greater Sudbury Police Service’s Marine Unit, attended the scene to conduct a search in the water.  An OPP Emergency Response Team was dispatched to begin a ground search of the shore.  The OPP helicopter and Underwater Search & Recovery Unit also attended the scene to assist with aerial and underwater search. 

Later that afternoon, the male’s body was recovered by the divers in approximately 2.5 meters of water.

A post-mortem was conducted on May 26 and the cause of death was confirmed to be drowning.
