On Sunday evening around 8:30 pm, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a report of a stabbing on Oak Street in Capreol.
A police investigation revealed the 17-year-old victim and the 17-year-old accused engaged in a fight over Halloween candy, which was initiated by the victim and his friends.
As the fight continued, the victim's friends joined in to assist. As a result, the accused pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the thigh, resulting in a non life-threatening injury.
The victim was treated for a stab wound and released.
The accused, who can not be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested shortly after the incident. He's charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of breach of recognizance.
The matter is still under investigation and police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 675-9171, ext. 2300.
Father, son face drug charges
Just after midnight Monday, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a disturbance at a Lorne Street motel.
Upon arrival, uniformed officers noted a vehicle leaving the motel and stopped it to investigate the occupant's involvement in the disturbance.
As a result of the police investigation, police laid a charge of impaired driving against the 40-year-old driver.
A subsequent search of the vehicle also uncovered 13 grams of marijuana and $1,300 in cash and drug paraphernalia.
The man's 20-year-old son was also charged following the incident.
The father is charged impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of breach of probation.
His son is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
Both men were held overnight at the Sudbury District Jail and are scheduled to have a bail hearing Monday.
