Two boys under the age of 12 are allegedly responsible for three of six suspicious fires set in the downtown core Sudbury early in the morning of Aug. 6.

The Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers are offering a guaranteed $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for four robberies of local pharmacies between July 7 and Aug. 5. The guaranteed reward is valid until midnight Aug.

A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man were arrested at 1 a.m. Aug. 11 after they allegedly broke into “The Shaq of Patates” chip stand in Hanmer and cooked themselves a snack.

A Ford F-150 pickup truck was stolen from the parking lot of the Tim Hortons restaurant on The Kingsway during the morning of Aug. 10 after the owner left the keys in the ignition.

The Sudbury OPP was called in Aug. 8 at around 9:45 p.m. after a 44-year-old man failed to return from an ATV ride he had taken earlier that afternoon in the Wavy Lake area.

After a day-long trial on Aug. 7, David Popescu was found guilty of promoting hatred, according to local media reports.

A man was arrested Aug. 9 at 5:15 p.m. after Greater Sudbury Police noticed him driving on Cote Boulevard in Hanmer in “a suspicious fashion.” Further investigation revealed that the man was disqualified from driving.

A 45-year-old Azilda man has been charged with dangerous operation of a vessel after a boat collision during a fishing derby on Whitewater Lake Aug. 8 at around 7 a.m.

Police can get a break sometimes. Just before 11 a.m. Saturday, an adult female attended Greater Sudbury Police headquarters. She indicated she was wanted on outstanding criminal charges.
