Hockey player Tessa Bonhomme, 20, will
compete at the Four Nations Cup this week with the Canadian
National Women's team.
Bonhomme, who plays defence, is one of 22
players on the roster. The Four Nations Cup is being held in
Hameenlinna, Finland. Canada will play teams from the United
States, Sweden and Finland.
Bonhomme will be looking to help Canada win
its 10th Four or Three Nations Cup event. (Canada won last
year.)
The event is the first of two major
tournaments being used by Team Canada to prepare for the 2006
Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. The other event will be
held in Turin in November. Team Canada's coaching staff is
using the two tournaments as a way to evaluate and monitor
players prior to naming the final roster for the 2006 Olympic
Winter Games.
Canada plays their first game, against
Sweden, today at 2 pm. Canada also plays Thursday, Sept. 1,
against the United States at 4 pm, and Saturday, Sept. 3,
against Finland at 4 pm.
The gold medal game goes Sunday, Sept. 4 at 5
pm.
