Last week, Greater Sudbury Police said a man was stabbed and received non-life-threatening injuries at around 2:15 a.m. Friday morning at Durham and Larch streets.

There was a stabbing Friday morning, but it turns out some of those details are incorrect — the stabbing actually took place a little later in the morning and a bit further down the street.

Police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn said there were two altercations between the same group of people that happened on Durham Street.

The first altercation took place at around 2:15 a.m. Friday morning at Durham and Larch streets, but nobody was stabbed in the incident, despite initial police reports.

It was during the second altercation, which took place at around 2:35 a.m. at Durham and Elm streets, that the victim was stabbed. The man was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, and was released.

Dunn said police are unsure how many people were involved in the altercations — that's under investigation. “They're reviewing video surveillance right now,” she said.

The suspect in the stabbing is described as a white man in his mid-20s, clean shaven, with brown hair, a medium build and about 5-6 in height.
