BY BILL BRADLEY Ten members of the Irish Regiment of Canada were officially welcomed home to Greater Sudbury Saturday afternoon, at the Sudbury Armoury on Riverside Dr.

The federal Liberal riding association in Nickel Belt has set April 21 as the date members will choose a new candidate to run in the next federal election.

The April 18 city priorities committee meeting will take place in Onaping. The meeting will begin at 6 pm at the Onaping Community Centre at 1 Hillside Ave.

Laurentian University has announced the people who will receive honourary degrees at nine convocation ceremonies from May 29 to June 2. About 2,200 people will graduate during the ceremonies.

Laurentian University's board of governors approved a motion April 13 against a proposed secondary access road through campus. They made the policy decision after a public consultation March 1 with students, staff and members of the public.

Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci announced $1 million Thursday to improve various trades programs at College Boreal.

There was another significant gain in Greater Sudbury in the New Housing Price Index. Statistics Canada reports housing prices increased in 10 of 21 metropolitan areas surveyed with Regina, Sask.
