A man caught drunk behind the wheel for the fourth time managed to avoid a jail sentence Wednesday. Paul Lafleur, 50, will spend three months under house arrest and is prohibited from driving for three years.

One of Sudbury?s most veteran judges said he wants to know how graphic certain images are before determining whether or not to send a man to jail after being caught with 300 images of child pornography.

BY KEITH LACEY [email protected] A Sunday bike ride in a downtown park that turned ugly has resulted in jail sentences for three young adults.

A preliminary hearing was held Friday against a local man charged with kicking a stranger in the head outside a Chelmsford bar last summer. Kristopher Dupuis is charged with aggravated assault for an incident outside the hotel last August 31.

A local man who rolled his car while under the influence was given a break by the courts Friday, but will pay his penance early next year. Court heard Donald Joanisse, 49, decided to pass a car on a short stretch of road in Azilda last Oct. 19.

They may be the lucky seven - of nine vehicles stolen within Greater Sudbury over the weekend, only two have not returned to their owner's driveways.

Three young offenders face 27 criminal charges after members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service's street crime unit acted on information from the uniform division in relation to several incidents in the city's South End in late May.
