Dentist?s death in Orillia under investigation

Orillia OPP are conducting a ?very active investigation? into the murder of Sudbury native David Dumencu. Dumencu, 42, had been a dentist in Milton since his graduation from the University of Western Ontario in 1986.

One cyclist dead, another injured in seperate bike accidents this week

A cyclist was killed on Wednesday morning after being struck by a truck on Municipal Road 55, east of Duhamel Road.

Woman stabbed by acquaintance

Early Thursday morning a man stabbed a woman on Mont Adam Street near The Kingsway. During an argument, the man stabbed the woman 11 times. Witnesses stopped to assist the woman. She is now in hospital and is expected to recover.

Arrest made in connection with beating death

Orillia OPP have made an arrest in connection with the beting death of Sudbury native David Dumencu. He died July 16 after being beaten and left unconscious outside Atherly Arms, an Orillia strip club.

Teenager missing

The Children?s Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin is requesting the public?s assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old male. HITCHCOCK Trevor Scott Hitchcock hasn?t been seen since June 22.

Sudbury Jail inmate found dead

Foul play is not suspected in the death of an inmate at the Sudbury District Jail late last week. According to a uniform staff sergeant, the inmate was found dead at about 6 pm Friday. The criminal investigations branch is investigating.

Dairy Queen robbed

Two men, one armed with a shotgun, robbed the Dairy Queen on Lorne Street last night around 11:30 pm. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the men fled the scene.

Murder suspect injures cop

A Greater Sudbury police officer was sent to hospital Sunday after being struck by a car stolen by a Newmarket man wanted on a murder charge. The officer was treated at St. Joseph?s Health Centre and released. According to Staff. Sgt.

Walter, the dog who went missing after a serious car accident on The Kingsway, has been found and returned to his family.

Repeat drunk driver sent back to penitentiary
