Aided by a little local knowledge, travelers and locals alike have a new map source that will make backcountry travel and outdoor adventure a whole lot easier.

Two members of Sudbury's Track North Athletic Club have been selected to compete for Ontario's team at the Canada Summer Games, which will be held in Prince Edward Island in August. Ben Charbonneau threw a personal best of 62.

Sudbury's High Impact Thrills (HIT) Action team is launching a five-part demo series in showcasing extreme martial arts and acrobatic skills. The first demonstration will take place on Saturday, July 18 at 1 p.m.

Bell Park was pounding with life on the weekend as the 10th annual Dragon Boat Festival made waves in Lake Ramsey. Fifty teams participated, raising $60,000 for the Independent Living Centre — the recipient charity for the second year in a row.

Residents in Nairn Centre will host an afternoon of Redneck games and other activities on Sunday, July 12 as a preview to the Redneck Dayz event set to take place Aug. 7 and 8. All events will take place at Bell T. Transport Inc.
