BY SABRINA BYRNES The Big Nickel Major AAA International Hockey Tournament will be marking its 29th year of competition and its first year without Gerald McCrory, the tournament's founder and chair, who passed away April of this year.

Almost every weekend, from mid-September through until the end of March, at least one Greater Sudbury sports team will make the trek south of Barrie to find tournament play that provides good, solid competition.

BY SABRINA BYRNES Cambrian Golden Shield men's basketball team were defeated by the Laurier Golden Hawks Friday afternoon 72-60 in an exhibition match-up on Cambrian's home gym.

The Laurentian Voyageurs soccer team will continue the quest for their first OUA championship since 1994 when they kick off the playoffs at home against the Queen's Gaels. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.

The Laurentian golf team has had a fairly successful season to date, but are looking to capture their first OUA title at the Crosswinds Golf club in Burlington, Ontario this Monday and Tuesday.
