Ontario Provincial Police marine units continue to see a number of common factors in fatal marine incidents: alcohol, not wearing a life-jacket or PFD, and small vessels.

Two youths have been arrested as a result of an investigation into a mugging style robbery. On Thursday afternoon, officers entered into an investigation where a male victim was attacked and a large quantity of cash was taken.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday, while on regular patrols in the area of Frood Road and College Street, officers in a marked police vehicle were almost struck by a motor vehicle that cut the corner from College Street onto Frood Road.

BY MARIE LITALIEN A few months ago, a resident of Elizabeth Street received some visitors — and they have been a daily fixture on her street ever since. But these guests are not welcome by this resident, or by her neighbours.

A cyclist and motorist collided Wednesday, resulting in minor injuries and sparking concern from police about bicycle safety. Around 12:50 p.m., uniform officers responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Newgate and Notre Dame Avenue.

The public’s assistance is requested in locating a missing child who was last seen in Sudbury on July 1. Evin Duhamel, 12, is described as Caucasian, approximately 5-9, 140 lbs, with a light complexion, wavy brown hair and dark brown eyes.

UPDATE: The investigation is continuing and the police are asking for the public’s assistance with this investigation.

The body of a 20-year-old Sudbury man was pulled from the water July 1 after a boating accident on Geneva Lake. On Sunday, around 5:45 p.m.

The provincial government has provided the Greater Sudbury Police Service with $520,864 to fund 22 additional police officers.

Greater Sudbury Police remind citizens that the by-law pertaining to fireworks is very specific about the days during which they are allowed to set off fireworks within the city.
