Members of the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police will be concentrating on aggressive drivers, street racers, those not wearing seatbelts and motorists who drive while impaired by drugs or alcohol throughout the Canada Day weekend.

The man charged with the double homicide on Thor Lake made his first appearance in Sudbury bail court today.

A 20-year-old man is in police custody following a short crime spree this week. On June 23 around 11:30 a.m., Patrick Albert, 20, entered an Antwerp Street residence, brandishing a tire iron.

Earlier today an arrest was made in the homicide investigation surrounding the suspicious deaths of Carolyn Carroll of Wahnapitae and Mark Anthony Comeau of Coniston.

An accident at the intersection of Maley Drive and Falconbridge Highway June 25 left three people in hospital. At approximately 4:55 p.m.

Police were called to an Albinson Street address where an adult male had been stabbed in the lower body with a knife, at approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The victim responded by striking the attacker in the face causing him to bleed.

On Sunday, June 22, at 9:10 p.m., Sudbury OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding an erratic driver, eastbound on Highway 17, just west of Wahnapitae. The vehicle was last seen travelling westbound on Highway 537.

Two people have been charged following a search of their residence, located on Robertson Road, near Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island. The search warrant was conducted on June 18 by members of the Sudbury Drug Enforcement Unit and the Manitoulin OPP.

Three people were charged after a vehicle was stolen June 22 at approximately 9:40 p.m. Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service were called to assist the OPP with the pursuit in the vicinity of Highway 17, near Coniston.
