Police investigating suspicious fire

Greater Sudbury Police are investigating a "suspicious" Sept. 13 Capreol house fire. Investigators and forensic officers were due to conduct a more thorough examination Sept. 14.

Young woman charged with drug offences

A young woman was arrested on drug charges and breach of recognizance after Greater Sudbury Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle they believed to be suspicious. She was found to be in possession of narcotics.

UPDATE: The man found in the Hanmer home on Sept. 13 has been identified as 36-year-old Brian Burns. An autopsy confirmed the man died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Man injured after Hwy. 17 school bus accident

A two-vehicle accident involving a school bus on Highway 17 west of Hagar around 8:30 a.m. has left one man in hospital. An eastbound car crossed the centre line and struck the side of a westbound school bus, which was full of students.

Bear attempts to enter home

A homeowner on Bancroft Dr. had an unwelcome guest trying to enter his home Thursday morning. At 10:15 a.m. the man contacted 9-1-1 when he realized that a bear was attempting to enter the house through a window.

COPs information session to be held

A Citizens on Patrol (COP) information session for residents of Ward 1 has been scheduled for Monday Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Robinson Playground community building.

A collision between a bus and two other vehicles at the intersection of Regent and Hyland this morning resulted in a young student and a driver of one of the cars being taken to hospital for observation.

Woman assaults little boy with branch

A little boy was assaulted by an adult woman on Sept. 9 around 8 p.m. The woman struck the victim several times with a tree branch. Police responded and their investigation resulted in the arrest of the woman, who is known to the victim.
